Interview with Issey Nakajima-Farran about his Professional career

“Football was a dream that started at 8 years old for me. I grew up in Tokyo in my early years and I went to my first live game. A Japanese international game and a striker a scored a goal and the fans went crazy. The stadium irrupted, horns were deafening. I remember at that moment, telling my dad that this is all I ever want to do. To be just like that player. The striker scored another goal shortly after and my heart was set. Football for me is the energy and the passion that drives the game. The energy from the crowd feeding off what you do with the ball, the stadium roaring when you make a nice combination play. The chemistry between players when anticipation and knowing how each other play, you gain that extra yard from the opponent and you pull off a beautiful play. Every bodys on their edge of their seat, hair on the back of their neck is electric because you share the same passion. I love these moments of the game. Unlike majority of the sports, football is a full teams effort to get that one goal, like a chess game, every one has to do their part including the crowd. Its a language of the world as its the most popular sport. I wanted to see the world playing football. Which I got to see 4 continents playing the game 17 years professional shoulder barging the world best and most amazing players. Playing against the likes of Brazil and Columbia with their best players. I played a decade for my birth country, Canada. To be one of the best in your country is a great honour. On the topic of GSWF im happy to play a part to contribute in any way that I can for its youth development. Education is just as important as playing the game, as it will prepare you for how to handle situations on and off the field. Sport has been my life but education and friends has made sport possible for me. Theres alot of players that ruin them selves due to not being educated also on how to be humble and kind with social skills which can lead to negative image. One sliver of attitude can lead to a club or an agent not wanting to take you on. With the right mentality and passion you can go places you never thought you would go to and see the world. From what iv seen in the game and in life, the hardest worker always beats talent.” – Issey
